If you are exploring the idea of moving into one of the exquisite KB homes in Austin, here are some fun and interesting things you should know about this eclectic Texas town:
Music is it’s Jam
You are in luck if music’s your thing, it’s Austin’s thing too! It is the live music capital of the World, which is kind of surprising if you think of much larger cities that have a rich history in music. There are more live music venues per capita than anywhere else. Downtown Austin is where you’ll find most of the music scene, along with SXSW, the largest festival of it’s kind held every March.
Places To Stay
After you move to Austin you will have a lot of visitors, it’s just how it works when you live in such a vivacious town. People want to come see you and explore the city. Here are some good suggestions of where to have guests stay if they want a little more independence than sleeping on your couch: The Driskill, Intercontinental Stephan F. Austin, and The Lake Austin Spa Resort.
Things To See
Knowing what neighborhoods to explore and what to expect is important. Downtown is where you will find the music scene, while South Lamar is more thrifty, North Loop is funky, and South Congress is trendy. You will want to add to your list a visit to the Blanton Museum of Art, Texas State History Museum, The State Capitol Building, Lyndon B. Johnson Library & Museum, and Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. A unique place to see is “Bat Bridge” where over one and a half million bats live under. It’s located at Congress Ave. Bridge and is best seen at night when the bats are out and about.
What To Do
There are simple and fun things to do like riding a bike through Ziller Park, Kayak on Lake Austin, swim at Hamilton Pool, and listen to the live music on 6th street. There is also a food and wine festival every year during the month of April. Don’t forget to go out and eat. Eating in Austin is a must. There are great restaurants on every corner, take the time to explore!
