The Sweet Sounds of Jazz by the Bay

Just across the water of Old Tampa Bay in Clearwater, Florida’s Coachman Park, from October 13-16, 2016, will come the sweet sounds of the Clearwater Jazz Holiday. If you’re lucky enough to be in one of the new homes built by KB Tampa, then you’re in the perfect position to spend a few days in music heaven.

The History of Jazz

Jazz was born over 100 years ago in the streets of New Orleans where the marriage of European and African culture and music gave birth to one of the most distinctive musical sounds. Born primarily of the experiences of early African American slaves, their spirituals, triumphs, and tragedies, jazz is the embodiment of the human experience in music. Characterized by brass instruments as well as piano and guitar, it is a musical genre that appeals to people from all walks of life.

International Festival

What began in 1979 with a flatbed trailer and a few Jazz enthusiasts, has become an international music festival that brings in over 35,000 people each year to celebrate the cool sounds of a true American treasure.  With the Gulf of Mexico sending cool sea breezes and hot music being played in the park, is it any wonder that this festival has pulled in legendary artists for almost 4 decades?

Old and New

With a passion for the music, in all of its many forms, the Clearwater Jazz Holiday hosts solid gold recording artists as well as emerging musicians. This year the headliners will be Kool & The Gang, Daryl Hall, Grace Potter, and Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue. The Commodores, The Mavericks, Houndmouth, and many others will also be performing the uniquely signature sound of jazz.

Get Ready for the Fireworks

The sounds of the music will fill up the air of the park and late Saturday night the fireworks sponsored by the HCA West Florida Pinellas County Hospitals will light up the air over the ocean. Bring your lawn chair, get yourself a plate of dinner from one of the many food vendors in the park, and come enjoy the magic.
