We all could stand to be a little healthier in our daily life. Here are some great habits to adopt today to help your body feel it’s best:
1) Eat Whole Food
The key with eating healthy regularly is filling your body up with nutritious food that tastes good and is good for you. That doesn’t mean you have to swear off all sweets, but it does mean that you can only have an occasional treat. The best way to keep your cravings at bay is by keep your body fueled with healthy food that is not pre-packaged. Take the time to cook things from scratch, it doesn’t have to take all day either. With a little meal planning and food prep you can have a healthy, filling, and delicious meal everyday of the week.
2) Actually Work Out
Don’t just wake up in the morning and put on workout clothes, and then run out of time to actually get your body moving and your heart rate up. Take the time to do some good stretching, strength training, and get through a sweat session. Even if you don’t feel like you can commit to going to the gym or taking a class, walk around the block a few times in the evening with your kids or during your lunch break at work. Also, you will want to mix things up. Try yoga on stressful days, and go on a nice long hike over the weekend. Mixing things up helps your body get in better shape and it’s good for your mind too.
3) Make It A Lifestyle
Setting a goal to be a certain weight by a certain date, or for a special occasion is just setting yourself up for failure. When that date comes and goes and you are not where you wanted to be you will only get discouraged and give up. The best thing you can do for yourself is pick a couple of things you want to work on and make them part of your life style. Wake up a little early and get a quick workout in each day as part of your normal daily life will do more for you than setting unachievable goals and failing. Deciding to make a healthy breakfast each morning will motivate you more than that dress you want to wear to your friends wedding.
